Drivers deny ride to Pasco robbery suspect

A 53-year-old man is under arrest by the Pasco County sheriff after he held up a Wells Fargo Bank and could not get anyone to help him get away on Tuesday.

Elias Chapanoff, according to the sheriff's office, entered the bank at 6013 State Road 54, and started yelling and acting as if he had a gun in his shirt. He received an unknown amount of cash and fled.

Chapanoff then approached a woman asking for her to "get him out of here," but she rolled up her vehicle's window.

He tried another car and forced the owners to keep the doors open, saying he had a gun and they were going to get him out of here.

Deputies arrived about the same time and one caught Chapanoff after a short foot chase.
