"Eggs"cellent Enrichment for Orangutans Friday at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo

The Bornean orangutan family at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is swinging into spring at 11 a.m. this Friday, April 18 with the annual Orangutan Egg Hunt. As the five playful primates wait off-exhibit for the fun to begin, zoo keepers will play Easter bunny and "hide" hard-boiled eggs, baskets, coconuts, frozen juice pops and other seasonal goodies throughout the exhibit. In addition to enjoying the tasty treats, the orangutans benefit from the challenge that offers the animals incentives to explore and interact with their habitat. One of many enrichment activities, this rewarding task helps stimulate the highly intelligent animals, both mentally and physically.
