Fallen police officers honored in Clearwater

Clearwater, Florida -- A little rain couldn't stop Clearwater police from honoring the men and women who have fallen in the line if duty.

Bagpipes sounded at the 33rd Annual Police Officer Memorial in Clearwater Friday, as the Fraternal Order of Police pushed on through that rain to honor four Clearwater officers: Harry Conyers, Peter Price, John Passer and Ronald Mahony. All four were killed in the line of duty in the 1960s and 1970s.

But Friday's remembrance was about more than those four brave souls.

It was about the men and women who risk their lives every day to serve and protect, and to show their families, many in attendance, that they are loved.

"Time does not heal all," said FOP Lodge 10 President Jonathan Walser. "That pain is forever there, and we remember that. We honor that, and we embrace it and love those and surround them and let them know that they don't walk alone."

More than 100 people, from police and sheriff's deputies to EMS workers, honored the seven officers which including three K-9 officers, killed in the line of duty in Florida last year.
