Family makes plea for help in fatal crash

Wimauma, FL - The family of 45-year-old Juan Heredia has requested a press conference to make a public plea for any information that may help identify the driver and vehicle that struck and killed Heredia in a fatal hit and run traffic crash.

On August 23, 2014 at approximately 4:45 a.m., Heredia was laying on Maggie Dr. north of SR 674 in Wimauma when he was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle. After the impact, the unknown driver drove away from the scene and is currently at large.

Detectives believe that Heredia was walking home from an all night celebration of his birthday.

Detectives have very few leads at this point and are hoping this public plea will focus attention on the investigation and move someone with any information to come forward.

Anyone with any information about the suspects or knows of someone with unexplained vehicle damage is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 247-8200 or anyone with any information regarding the identity and whereabouts of these suspects and who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at or text "CSTB plus your tip" to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637).
