Fire claims St. Pete church and polling place

St. Petersburg, Florida -- An early morning fire on Sunday claimed the Vietnamese Evangelical Church at 4344 21st Street North.

The two-alarm fire started around 1 a.m. on Sunday, August 24. The church was also a polling location for Tuesday's primary election. As the church is being repaired the polling place has been moved to Roberts Recreation Center, 1246 50th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

Elections staff will be calling and emailing voters in Precinct 139 to notify them of the polling place change. In addition, a staff member will be stationed at the previous location on Election Day with maps and directions to the new location.
