PENSACOLA, Florida (AP) - With hurricane season approaching, Florida emergency officials are urging the elderly to take precautions to ensure they are prepared.

The agency is urging people to prepare evacuation kits with a supply of their regular prescription medications, water, flashlights, non-perishable foods and other items they might need if they get stuck on the road while evacuating. Officials also say it is important for people to know where they will go if a storm approaches and to leave well ahead of the storm.
