Emergency Operations Center in Brevard loses power

Brevard County's Emergency Operations Center in Rockledge has lost power.

A backup generator is not operating, either.

Officials are working to resolve the issue.

There are a few lights on, but the computers and phones are not operating.

Safety light sticks have been handed out to the people working  at the Emergency Operations Center.

As of 5:30 a.m. Friday, 100,000 Florida Power & Light customers in Brevard County are without electricity, according to the company.

As of 3 a.m. Friday, 35,190 customers were without power out of 304,400 total FPL customers in the county.

The company said crews are prepared to evaluate and repair damages as soon as Hurricane Matthew-related conditions improve.
