A woman was arrested after she almost ran over a crossing guard in a school zone.
On Thursday morning, a retired police officer from Arizona, Elizabeth Boynes, wanted to make a left turn in an area where she was told by the crossing guard that she could only turn right.
However, Boynes really wanted to turn left so she began moving her car towards the direction of School Crossing Guard Riesa Miller. Eventually, Boynes made it past the guard, took off, and was located by Martin County Sheriff's deputies.
The incident took place on SW Martin Highway, near Hidden Oaks Middle School.
When Boynes was arrested for battery by deputies she reportedly said ""Wow, crossing guards have a lot of power here in Florida."
The Martin County Sheriff's Office posted this response on their Facebook Page:
Yes, the lives of our crossing guards are very important, as are the children they work to protect on a daily basis.
