A former Orlando police officer who was a first responder to the Pulse nightclub shooting says he will sue the city after losing his job.
Gerry Realin said Thursday he will seek $1 million in damages for alleged violations of Florida's Workers' Compensation Law, according to WKMG in Orlando.
The lawsuit said that after Realin filed for workers’ compensation benefits for his PTSD and hypertension, he was "repeatedly harassed, intimidated, threatened with discharge and coerced" by Orlando Police Department employees, WKMG reports.
He was part of the hazmat team assigned to remove the bodies after the June 2016 nightclub shooting. His doctor said he couldn't return to work because of PTSD, the station reported.
