JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Eighteen-year-old Dylan Brougham was arrested and charged for the murder of his 69-year-old grandmother, Joyce Courson.
On October 10, police responded to a domestic disturbance on the 3200 black of Ashridge Circle, following reports from a witness that stated the residents were arguing.
The witness said that Brougham and Courson were fighting because she took his beer while he was showering and hid it. The witness then said they heard a few bangs and Courson screaming for help. The witness found Courson on the floor and saw Brougham leaving the house.
Courson was taken to the hospital. She was able to tell police that during the argument her grandson became violent with her, began punching her in the face while he held her on the ground and kicking her.
Broughman was found later walking on Kernan Boulevard and was charged with aggravated battery at the time. However, on October 18, Courson died as a result of her injuries and the Medical Examiner ruled her death as a homicide. The charge against Brougham has been increased to murder as on November 3.
