Married Tampa couple killed when tire blows out on highway in Alligator Alley

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- A married Tampa couple died in a crash after their tire blew out in South Florida.

Kevin Tyler Livingston, 42, was driving his Ford Expedition westbound on I-75 near Mile Marker 32 just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, when the SUV's left rear tire separated, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Livingston lost control and crashed into a canal. The Tampa Bay Times reports two people jumped into the water -- some areas are 40-feet deep -- to no avail.

Livingston and his wife, 35-year-old Michele Makiyama Livingston, were killed in the crash, FHP says.

It's not yet known what caused the tire to separate.
