Go Red Luncheon promotes heart health

Tampa, Florida – "Go Red" sounds like the cheer for some sports team, but it's a rallying cry for women concerned about heart disease.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women, yet many women aren't aware of the threat or familiar with the symptoms.

That's where the American Heart Association's "Go Red" campaign rises to the challenge. Go Red aims to educate women and improve their heart health.

"The message of the Go Red is quite simple," says Circle of Red member Elizabeth Dombovary. "They want to save lives."

On May 8, the Go Red for Women Luncheon takes place at the A La Cart Event Pavilion. The event provides health screenings and education for women and also raises money for more research.

"The luncheon brings together people who are passionate about fighting heart disease," says Dombovary.

10 News is proud to sponsor the luncheon and anchors Tammie Fields and Dion Lim will host the event.
