Avila home owned by tennis pro James Blake

Retired Tennis pro James Blake rented his Avila home to the Campbell family. Blake purchased the 5,856 square foot, $1,574,000 house in 2005. On Wednesday, it burned to the ground and a mystery surrounds exactly what happened.

According to his biography, Blake began playing at five years of age. Former tennis great Arthur Ashe inspired him to play and served as a hero and role model.

Blake attended Fairfield High School in Connecticut along with singer/songwriter John Mayer. They remain friends to this day.

He trained locally at Saddlebrook Academy early in his career. He's a former Harvard All-American, finishing as the number one collegiate player, reaching the 1999 NCAA singles final. He's known for his speed and powerful forehand.

Blake and his wife, Emily Snider, married in 2012 and have one child.

He retired last year.
