Victim describes being shot at during break-in

Valrico, Florida – It was a close call for a man who walked in during a burglary at his home in Valrico.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. when John Butler walked into his house along the 4900 block of Bell Shoals Rd.

"I saw this guy running back towards my bedroom and he went back there very quickly and came back out. I yelled at him to get out of my house and he yelled at somebody else- 'let's get out'- and at that time he pointed a gun at me and shot," said Butler.

The bullet that was fired actually came from Butler's gun after the suspect found it inside the house.

At least two more men are believed to have been involved in that crime and two others in the area on Friday. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the first break-in took place along Charles Place earlier in the day while the residents were away

At a second home on Spring Way Circle, the homeowner was at work when the men broke into the house through a window and got away with her iPad loaded with family photos.

Butler says got a good look at the man who shot at him inside his Bell Shoals Rd. home.

"The one guy that I saw looked like a kid that I would have been glad to raise myself," he said.

He is described as a light-skinned young man, who was clean-shaven and wearing a black polo shirt and black gym shorts.

While investigators believe they are looking for a total of three people, they only have a description of the man that Butler encountered in his home.
