Hurricane Hermine reveals wedding ring lost in surf

ST. PETE BEACH, Florida — A newlywed couple who had their honeymoon interrupted by Hurricane Hermine found something special when the angry surf finally retreated on Pass-a-Grille Beach.
“Just a silver glint -- the sun was actually out for just a little bit and just hit it just perfect,” said Jim Turner who got married last Friday.  “I just reached down and picked it up and was amazed it was a wedding ring.”
Turner says he found the ring while searching for a special bench he had dedicated to his first wife who passed away in 2015 that was washed away in this week’s storm.
A post on Facebook helped lead Turner 11 blocks down the beach where he found the bench, and minutes later the ring.
Now that he’s found the bench that meant so much to him, Jim says he’s determined to help return the ring to its rightful owner.
The silver colored male ring has “My beloved, My Friend” inscribed on the inside.
Anyone who believes the ring might belong to them can email reporter Beau Zimmer at to be put in touch with Jim Turner.
