IRS protest draws hundreds in Tampa

Tampa, FL -- About 300 people protested outside the Internal Revenue Service offices on West Columbus Tuesday afternoon. The group was demonstrating against the IRS for improperly targeting conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.

Many of the protesters held signs like the ones which read: Abolish the IRS, The IRS Targeted Tampa 912, End the Tyranny and Fire Obama.

The Tampa protest was one of more than 100 such planned events outside IRS offices around the country.

The ultimate goal of the protests according to organizers is the immediate resignations of all those involved at the IRS for targeting conservative groups. After the scandal broke, acting IRS Director Steven Miller resigned while President Obama criticized the IRS actions as "outrageous."

An IRS spokesperson told 10 News the agency would have "no comment" regarding Tuesday's protests.
