The condo association at one of Tampa's most prestigious towers -- Plaza Harbour Island -- has the feeling that the building is sinking.
The association, according to The Tampa Bay Times, has filed a lawsuit claiming that the 20-story, 144-unit tower has structural problems that include exterior cracking .
The lawsuit says that examinations found "very loose and very soft bay bottom soils'' under the first-floor commercial units. "These soils are completely unsuitable to support the foundation and, as a result, the soils have settled with resulting movement and significant cracking of the walls, stucco and structure.''
The damages to some of the units include "loss of use, relocation expenses, diminution in value, increased insurance premiums (and) damage to other property,'' the lawsuit states.
