Local Salvation Army shelters open for storm victims

The Salvation Army’s shelters in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will be open for extended hours to accommodate demand while Tropical Storm Hermine winds through the Tampa Bay area.

The shelters will also offer extra beds in both counties as long as necessary for individuals and families displaced due to flooding and other storm damage, according to Andy Miller, area captain for Tampa and Hillsborough County.
