Man beats elderly woman for her purse

Brandon, Florida -- A 62-year-old woman was attacked and robbed while walking through a movie theater parking lot on July 8.

Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies say just before 6 p.m., the woman was walking toward the movie theaters at Regency Square on Brandon Boulevard when a man attacked her, tried to steal her purse and a struggle ensued.

The suspect knocked her to the ground where he punched and kicked her body and face before forcefully removing her purse.

"I know I was looking at pure evil, pure evil, and I was fighting for my life," the woman said of the attack that was so violent she thought she might die.

He was last seen getting into a 2006-2008 red or maroon Chevrolet Impala with dark, tinted windows and driving west on Grand Regency Blvd.

He and another man were later captured on video surveillance at nearby department stores, using the woman's credit card.

He is described as a black male, 20-27 years old, 6'2", 190-200 lbs, with short black hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt with the words "Three Point Layup" on it and black athletic shorts.

His friend is described as black male, 20-27 years old, 5'10", 180 lbs., with short black hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat with the letters "TB" on it, a black T-shirt with white writing and dark navy blue shorts with stars on them.

The woman suffered broken bones and numerous contusions/bruises.

Anyone with any information reference the suspect is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 247-8200 or anyone with any information regarding the identity and whereabouts of this suspect and who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at or text "CSTB plus your tip" to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637).
