St. Petersburg, Florida -- Police say they have arrested the man seen on surveillance video brazenly stealing a Chihuahua puppy from a Pinellas pet store last month.
35-year-old Mark Anthony Clearman is facing two counts of grand theft. Investigators say back in February, Clearman was at the Animal House Pet Center on 34th Street North in St. Petersburg. Surveillance video shows the suspect grabbing the 10-week-old puppy and dropping it in his backpack.
The dognapper then casually slings the backpack over his shoulder and walks out of the store.
Acting on a tip, St. Petersburg Police say they found and arrested Clearman over the weekend.
The puppy hasan estimated value of around $600, which is what made Clearman's charges a felony.
So far, the stolen dog has not been recovered.
