Man spends Christmas taking free portraits for poor families

Pepito Valdes provided free portrait sessions for low-income families at Metropolitan Ministries.

TAMPA, FL -- Celebrating the holidays with family is special and photos capturing the moments can be just as meaningful.

One man made that a reality for several families that are less fortunate.

Homeless and low-income families were able to take professional photos at Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa Christmas day. It was courtesy of Pepito Masterpiece Portraits.

The owner has been offering free portraits on Christmas for almost two decades. He says many of the people that come out have never even taken family portraits in their entire life.

They also gave out toys and candy to the kids.

You can tell by the smiles how much this meant to them.

“At first, I thought I was doing something for them, but really it’s for me. I just enjoy it, we just love it,” said Pepito Valdes.

It takes about three weeks for the photos to come back finished. Metropolitan Ministries also hosted a nutritious Christmas meal for hundreds who could not afford one themselves.
