PALMETTO, Fla. -- A 14-year-old Buffalo Creek Middle School student admitted to Manatee County sheriff's deputies that he used cocaine on campus October 17, according to a report from WWSB.
The boy was arrested and four others will be punished, the Bradenton Herald reported Tuesday.
A sister of a student involved in this incident talked to WWSB and said that the student was handed a crumpled piece of paper that contained a baggie of cocaine which the student threw in the trash.
Parents were not made aware of the arrest until Buffalo Creek principal Dustin Dahlquist issued a recorded message on October 27.
The school board told WWSB that parents were not immediately informed because the arrest was "an isolated incident." No further investigation will be launched by MCSO or the school board, according to the report.
