Hudson, Florida -- A 17-month-old child discovered at the bottom of a Hudson pool Tuesday morning by his mother is expected to recover.
Pasco Sheriff's Office deputies and Pasco County Fire Rescue were called to the home on Pinto Drive at 9:08 a.m. Tuesday in reference to a possible drowning. When they arrived, they discovered a 17-month-old boy had been pulled from the pool and revived by his mother, who performed CPR on the boy.
Deputies say the child was playing with his siblings in a bedroom when the mother briefly left the room. Moments later, she discovered the sliding glass door that led to the pool at the home was opened. The door had previously been closed and was typically locked.
When the mother went to check, the boy was at the bottom of the pool. She immediately jumped into the pool, pulled the child out, and performed CPR. Although the child was alert and showing good vital signs, he was flown to a local hospital by helicopter for safety precautions.
The incident remains under investigation.
