Motorcycle crash ends in one death

Tampa, Florida -- A motorcyclist was thrown into a Hart Line Bus stop after attempting to pas a car on North Himes Avenue.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, 29-year-old Gabriel A. Rivera was riding his motorcycle north on North Himes avenue when he left of the double yellow line in an effort to pass Blanca I. Sanchez-Diaz who was also driving northbound on N. Himes Ave in a Honda Accord.

Rivera's motorcycle struck the front of the Honda as Sanchez-Diaz was slowing to make a left turn onto W. Hamilton Street.

Rivera was ejected from the motorcycle and thrown into the glass enclosure of a Hart Line bus stop on the corner. Rivera was taken to a local hospital where he later died. He was not wearing a helmet.

Drugs and/or alcohol may have been contributing factors in this crash. Rivera and Sanchez-Diaz were both reportedly coming from local night clubs. No charges have been filed pending further investigation and the results of toxicology reports.

The investigation continues.
