Pasco jury awards woman $47 million in massage case

Wesley Chapel -- It's been a 2 1/2-year-long battle for a Bay area woman, but on Thursday a Pasco County jury awarded her $47,420,7000, one of the largest awards in county history.

Her lawyer, Wil Florin, says he hopes the "big money" sends a clear message that more checks and balances needed to be put in place when it comes to massage therapists.

Florin's client went to Essentials Massage and Facials of New Tampa LLC for a massage. While there and partially disrobed as is common with a massage, her therapist sexually assaulted her.

According to the lawsuit and records, Raul A. Delarosa pleaded guilty and is now a registered sexual offender.
