PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- A community is heartbroken following the loss of a popular New Port Richey musician in a fatal motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 19 at Beach Boulevard in Hudson.
Florida Highway Patrol confirmed Monday that Robert Leroy Cartwright, 33, died at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point Sunday night from injuries sustained in a crash with a S.U.V. driven by Francine Cherry, 56, of Port Richey.
Word spread on social media yesterday that Cartwright was the motorcycle driver involved in the crash. Cartwright, a fiddle player in country rockers The Bearded Brothers Band, was mourned on the band's Facebook page.

Facebook user Steve Mondock said in the post's comments section that he will never be able to listen to the bands cover of "Seminole Wind" without thinking of Cartwright.
"He used to look at me and wink when I got the chance to see y'all play. He was an amazing fiddler and a vital part of your band and brotherhood. He would not want you to stop," Mondock wrote.
According to the FHP, Cartwright was riding southbound on US-19 when Cherry turned left into the oncoming path of his motorcycle. Cartwright's motorcycle struck the rear of the S.U.V. and he was ejected from the crash.
Carwright, himself a fierce fiddler in his own right, jammed with country music legend Charlie Daniels on "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" at a 2014 benefit concert for the Angelus Charity at the Hard Rock in Tampa.
