Wrong-way driver in Pasco results in DUI

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- A driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on US Highway 19, near the intersection of Fox Hollow Dr. around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when an officer reacted and put his lights on to pull the driver off.

The driver pulled off the road without incident. According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, the officer then told the driver to shut the engine off and throw the keys out of the window of the car.

The driver obliged and asked the officer what she did wrong. The officer then noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle and asked the driver to step out of the vehicle.

The driver was identified as 22-year-old Christina Gasparini. She failed the field sobriety tests but refused to take a breathalyzer test. The officer then discovered an open can of Bush beer and several other cans of beer.

Gasparini was arrested on $1,000 bond for DUI and sent to the Pasco County Jail.
