Passenger ejected during crash, struck by toolbox in Sarasota

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. -- A Chevy Silverado truck was traveling on Claxstrauss Dr. south of SR 780 around 3:13 a.m. on Saturday when the driver attempted to swerve in a 'doughnut' fashion.

The tires of the truck struck a crater in the grass, causing the truck to flip several times. 22-year-old Jordan Koch was thrown from the truck out of the right rear window while it was flipping.

A toolbox which was also ejected from the truck flew towards Koch while the truck was flipping, causing him critical injuries. He was sent to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries.
