Fmr. Jefferson High football player dies after car crashes into home

LUTZ, Fla. -- A 26-year-old man has died after he lost control of his car and drove into a utility pole which sent the vehicle careening toward a house.

At around 2:28 a.m. Thursday, Maxwell Trent Holloway, of Lutz, was heading westbound on Lutz Lake Fern Road. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, his Dodge Charger left the roadway after Holloway missed the curve.

Holloway was a former defensive lineman at Jefferson High in Tampa and at Boston College.

The Charger struck a utility pole which sent it in the direction of a residence located at 4202 Sandy Shores Drive. The car hit several trees before striking the exterior of the house and ended upside down in the back yard.

Holloway suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no injuries to any individual inside the home.
