Largo, Florida -- A fourth-grade Largo teacher has been charged with sending nude images to a teenager after they were caught together in a rec center bathroom.
Largo police on Monday were called to the Highland Recreation Center, 400 Highland Ave., after a report that a woman and a juvenile were seen entering a unisex restroom on the second floor, police said. The woman and boy remained inside for about 10 minutes before police arrived.
Lesley R. Brown, 45, a teacher at Fuguitt Elementary School, told police she goes to the gym three days a week and the 17-year-old boy is her workout partner and spotter.
Both denied anything occurred in the bathroom and said they locked the door because they heard voices and didn't want it to appear as if something was going on, according to a police report.
Both denied any sexual activity inside the bathroom and the boy's mother picked him up.
Later police found naked pictures of Brown on his cell phone including dirty text messages.
Brown was then arrested on two felony counts of transmission of material harmful to minors. She is now out on bond. She also got a trespass warning from staff at the recreation center.
10 News knocked on Lesley Brown's Largo home, but she did not answer her door.
We also talked to her neighbors off camera. They say they are close to her because they have all lived there together for years and didn't want to talk about the allegations.
10 News also contacted the Pinellas County Schools district since Brown has a fourth grade teacher at Fuguitt Elementary for the last six years.
A spokesperson tells 10 News the district is doing its own investigation but will not discuss the arrest at this time because the "...the alleged incident did not occur on Pinellas County School Property and did not involve one of her students..."
