Police: Wal-Mart electronics scheme broken up

PINELLAS PARK, Florida (AP) - A 24-year-old Wal-Mart employee is accused of a scheme to steal electronics from the store he worked for in Pinellas Park.

Kevin Rious and his 26-year-old accomplice James Lall were arrested Wednesday after Wal-Mart notified officers about the scheme. Both face multiple charges and remained in the Pinellas County Jail on Friday.

According to police, on 24 occasions since May 7 the pair took items worth $23,263 from the store.

Officers say Lall would send Rious a text message with a list of items he wanted. Lall would then go to the electronics register where Rious was working. Rious then completed a sale of items that were not being purchased, which cost much less than the electronics items Lall left the store with. Lall then paid Rious for his assistance.
