People snatch up food littered on road after train crash in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. -- No injuries were reported after a train collided with a semi-truck in Lakeland overnight.

A CSX train en route from Winter Haven to Jacksonville struck a semi-truck near Ingraham Avenue around midnight Wednesday, according to a CSX spokesperson.

CSX crews and Lakeland police were on site to help clear the roadway.

The train, which was carrying 48 loads of mixed freight and 17 empty cars, was cleared to move around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to a CSX spokesperson.

Lakeland police said the collision caused the semi-truck to split in half, spilling the contents of beef and chicken on the roadway. People on the scene snatched up the food littered on the roadway.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
