Police, deputies respond to Polk school threat

Lakeland, Florida -- Lakeland Police and Polk County Sheriff's deputies are on the campus of Sleepy Hill Middle School, after the school received a threat on Wednesday.

Police say the school received a handwritten note from an unknown person that stated they were going to kill themselves with a handgun Thursday on Sleepy Hill's campus.

As a result, the school district is taking all precautions necessary to keep students and faculty safe. Police say all students and faculty are being "wanded" by school district personnel, and there will be a continued law enforcement presence at the school for the day.
