Teacher arrested for sex with student investigated in 2012

Polk County, Florida -- New details tonight in the case of a Polk County teacher police say had sex with a 17-year-old student, allegedly got pregnant, and had an abortion.

Central Florida Aerospace Academy teacher Jennifer Fichter stood in front of a judge Wednesday facing numerous charges after police say she had sex with a student multiple times.

"We will set bond at $10,000 each count," the judge said.

While bond was set at $70,000, the Polk County Sheriff's Office confirms that Fichter was under investigation in 2012 after a mom contacted the sheriff's office after she said she found inappropriate Facebook messages between the teacher and her son.

Watch the 2012 interview Fichter had with detectives below:

We stopped by the family's home today and while they didn't want to speak on camera, the boy's father tells me that the communication between Fichter and his son was just wrong. And even he went as far as pulling his two sons from the school.

"You will have no contact with the victim in this case," the judge told Fichter Wednesday.

The sheriff's office also didn't want to speak on camera today telling us that the investigation that they conducted back in 2012 found no evidence of sexual or physical misconduct so no charges were ever filed.

But the father of the young man tells me he knew something just wasn't right and wasn't shocked with the latest allegations that she was sleeping with another student came out.

Fichter also faces three more counts in Hillsborough County because deputies say some of the sexual encounters happened there.
