Reward increased to $50K in missing Sarasota teen case

Reward for missing teen Jabez Spann increased to $50K

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The reward money for information in the case of a missing Sarasota teen has been increased to $50,000.

Jabez Spann, 14, has been missing since September 4.  He was last seen in the area of 22nd Street in Sarasota wearing a turquoise shirt. 

Investigators believe he may have witnessed a murder.

Jabez is around 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds.   Sarasota police say they've received several tips and have been in contact with Jabez's family.  

As for the reward money, the FBI is contributing $44,000, FDLE is contributing $5,000 and the Sarasota Police Department is contributing $1,000 for a total of $50,000.  Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Sarasota Crime Stoppers at 941-366-TIPS.
