New Port Richey, Florida -- Rock the Park aims to be a rockin' good time this week.
The music and food festival takes place at Sims Park in New Port Richey on Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24.
The benefit concert helps raise funds for The Center for Independence, which offers services to people with developmental disabilities.
Sean Kline, The Center's development director, started Rock the Park four years ago. He spends a lot of time finding "up-and-coming" bands to play. This year nine will take the stage for free. "They donate their time for the cause, which means a lot to me personally," says Kline.
With a huge wooden playground at the park and face-painting, Rock the Park is a family friendly event. However, beer sales are part of the fundraiser.
The event also features a food truck rally.
