Tampa, Florida -- If a normal person raced through downtown Tampa at 30-40 mph, they'd get pulled over by cops. But on Saturday, hundreds of bicyclists will be racing through the streets at the Gasparilla Criterium and Cycling Festival.
20,000 race fans are expected to line the streets of downtown Tampa to see 500 amateur and professional cyclists zooming at speeds up to 40 miles per hour!
The Gasparilla Criterium and Cycling Festival is more than just a few races. It also features beer gardens, an outdoor sports expo, kids rides and a 3K Beer Dash.
The races begin at noon on Saturday and continue through the day until 10:00pm.
David Green, race director for the Gasparilla Criterium and Cycling Festival stopped by 10 News to talk about the fast-paced event.
