Unexpected victim: Man wants to clear himself after Seminole Heights connection

Man trying to clear his name after wrongly being connected to the Seminole Heights murder

SEMINOLE HEIGHTS, Fla. -- In the 51-day search for the killer, there was another unexpected victim.  People on social media started to circulate the Facebook profile of a man known as Kyle Avery.

Even as officers took Howell Donaldson III into custody, there were pictures linking him to the serial killings.

10News Anchor Courtney Robinson tracked down Avery.  He’s from Tampa but now lives in Queens, New York.

He wants to clear his name and told Courtney people need to be responsible on social media.  He says they need to do their research before accusing others.

Again, he wants it to be known that he had nothing to do with the recent Seminole Heights murders.
