Sheriff: 37-year-old man sexually assaulted teen

Madeira Beach, Florida -- A 37-year-old is accused of raping a teen that he met on Gulf Boulevard and arranged to meet later via Facebook.

It happened in Madeira Beach over the weekend.

Pinellas County deputies arrested 37-year-old Justin Gregorits, who also goes by "Gene," after they found him inside his home with a 17-year-old girl. The girl told deputies he forced himself on her. He later admitted he had sex with her.

The two met walking along Gulf Boulevard and exchange information to later reconnect on Facebook. Then they arranged a meeting. The sheriff's office said the incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Sunday.

The girls' parents told deputies she had told them she was going out on Friday to meet friends she met on the beach. When it got late and she did not come home, her parents called 911. Deputies used the girl's Facebook account to track who she had been messaging. That lead them to Gregorits' house in Madeira Beach. The two were together there when deputies arrived. They are worried there might be more victims because the two had just met.

Gregorits' neighbors do not know him well but said they would never expect that kind of illegal behavior from him.

Michelle Albino has a 15-year-old daughter and lives a few houses away from Gregorits.

"I am shocked and fearful as a mother," said Albino. "I try to trust my daughter to not talk to strangers and not make poor decisions, but I do monitor her Facebook, Snapchat, and everything. I have her call me when she is out every 20 minutes, 25 minutes. I need to know she is safe at all times. i will no longer allow her to go on the beach by herself anymore."

Another neighbor who is only 19 years old no longer feels safe living across from Gregorits' home.

"That is so scary. Wow. He is only four houses down from me," said Brianna Forte. "A 37-year-old to a 17-year-old girl, that is a 20 year difference! That is not right."

Gregorits faces a charge of sexual battery and is being held in the Pinellas County Jail.

Deputies want anyone with more information on Gregorits to come forward. You can do so anonymously at by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
