Tampa, Florida - A job means more than a paycheck. It also means better access to health care.

As Florida's unemployment rate continues to climb, nearly 6 million people will not be covered in the event of a medical emergency. The Bridge Healthcare Clinic in Tampa may offer an option.

The clinic was started two years ago by University of South Florida students to offer health care to the uninsured who are living below the poverty line.

Now USF students studying social work physical therapy and medicine run the clinic while doctors and educators oversee the care of patients.

The Bridge Healthcare Clinic is open Tuesday from 5 - 9 p.m.

Located at: 13601 N. 22nd street Tampa.

Appointments are required. You can call (813) 307-8037

There are several other clinics that offer care for free or on a sliding scale.
