Tampa, Fla. -- Cortez Hankton knows that NFL careers don't last a lifetime. That's why he's preparing for life after his first profession ends.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneer wide receiver is preparing for his sixth season with his third franchise. Along the journey, Cortez has realized that he can still make an impact after his playing days are over.
Thanks to help from the NFL, who encourages continuing education, Cortez has begun graduate studies at Argosy University. His plan is to one day earn a doctorate degree in clinical psychology.
Cortez earned a business degree from Texas Southern before beginning his playing career. After seeing the impact he can have as a NFL player, he wanted to learn more about what he can do to help those people he comes in contact with each day.
He says he'd like to earn that doctorate by age 35, but he would gladly play football until then and work on his second career after his playing days end.
