Update - A woman living in nearby neighborhood spotted Ruth's stolen bike and reported it police. And now - Ruth has her bike back!
Here's our earlier story:
Treasure Island, Florida -- It's not every day that a police department issues an alert for a stolen bicycle. But when the bike is owned by a 91-year-old triathlete, it rates as a special case.
Treasure Island Police say the theft happened last Saturday from a condo carport on Isle of Capri, between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. It is a "Biria" Easy Boarding, Easy 7 Model bicycle, pearl white in color, 26-inch, 7 speeds, Shimano gears, with rack and fenders. It is valued at $500.
The bike belongs to 91-year-old Ruth Gordon of Seminole. Last year, Gordon rode it in her second triathalon. 10 Connects profiled Gordon, along with her daughter, when the pair competed in the St. Anthony's Triathlon. [Full Story]
Anyone with information on the bike is requested to contact the Treasure Island Police Department. Direct Information to: Detective Kathi Lovelace at (727) 547-4595 or e-mail klovelace@mytreasureisland.org
