Tampa, Florida - Thousands of Bay area kids have school supplies thanks to an organization called Children With A Vision. The group held their 9th annual Back to School Bash/Health Fair Sunday, where children got the chance to pick out back packs full of supplies to get them ready for classes.
The event was held at Regan Park Community Center at 1200 E. Lake Avenue in Tampa.
Tonya Lewis is the Founder and President of Children With A Vision and told 10 Connects she got a call from a mother who recently lost her job and her house. Her seven children are living with different relatives but the mom wanted to make sure her kids got something for school.
Lewis described the feeling of meeting the families they're trying to help. "A lot of tears and a lot of crying and a lot of hugs. They desperately needed these supplies."
Lewis and volunteers made sure that all the kids had a good time too. Families were treated to free barbeque and outside there was a huge field set up with all types of games for the children to enjoy.
