Woman sexually assaulted in Ybor parking garage

Tampa, Fl - Tampa Police are looking for a suspect and a witness after a woman in her late thirties was attacked and raped in an Ybor City parking garage Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say the woman was walking to her car in the Fernando Norega Jr., Palm Avenue parking garage just before 3:00pm Wednesday afternoon when a man punched her in the face and sexually assaulted her. Lt. Mike Baumaister, a police spokesman says the victim was cornered on the second floor near the entrance at N. 13th Street and E. Eighth Avenue. Detectives identified a person of interest and arrested the man on unrelated charges.

Police are still looking for a suspect described as a black male in his thirties. The suspect is described as approximately 240 pounds with black dreadlocks pulled back. The suspect was last seen wearing a yellow shirt.

Detectives interviewed an eye witness, but say they did not get her name and information. They would like to find her too. The witness is described as a hispanic or black female with red completion. She has black shoulder length hair, worn in a pony tail. She was last seen wearing black pants and a white uniform shirt with patches on the shoulder.
