Sarasota, Florida - Convicted killer Michael King and his attorneys waived their right during a morning hearing to call witnesses in a last attempt to save his life.

The hearing was over within a matter of minutes.

A jury recommended the death sentence in September when they convicted him of the murder of Denise Amber Lee.

Denise's husband and father say they are shocked that King didn't try to say something. Both say they're confident the judge will hand down the death sentence during the December 4th sentencing.

In the meantime, Lee's family continues their fight to change how 911 works.  They plan to push legislation in Tallahassee to require mandatory training for 911 dispatchers.  They've already helped pass legislation to make it voluntary.  they're also working with lawmakers in Washington to put changes into place on a national level.

Lee's family believes she would still be alive had Charlotte County dispatchers not mishandled her 911 call.

Denise called 911 from the backseat of King's car, using her cell phone.  A Tampa woman also called 911 after seeing Denise fight for her life in the backseat.  Despite the woman's directions to 911, help was never dispatched.
