
Clearwater, Florida -- A pedestrian was struck and killed on Gulf To Bay Boulevard tonight, closing the eastbound lanes between Hampton Road and Bayview Avenue.
The closing is expected to remain in effect until at least until 11 p.m., police said.
According to the preliminary investigation, a man in his 50s walked into traffic while attempting to cross the the seven lane road. He was not in a crosswalk or at an intersection.
Police said he was struck by a minivan driven by David Culp, 51 of Palm Harbor. The driver was not at fault and will not be cited, police said.
The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of his family.
