Tampa, Florida - Life just became a little easier for an Iraq war veteran.
Kyana Stewart, 25, drove military trucks in the first wave of action in Iraq. Today, she drove off the lot of Toyota of Tampa Bay in a refurbished Chevrolet Malibu.
The car is a gift from Wheels of Success, Toyota of Tampa Bay and State Farm Insurance. "On the eve of our nation's observance of veterans it's rewarding to kick off our 'Vehicles for Veterans' pilot program," said Wheels of Success founder and CEO, Susan Jacobs. Jacobs describes Wheels of Success as a grassroots organization that helps working people through donated vehicles and donated repairs.
Kyana, who continues serving in the Army Reserves, takes classes at Hillsborough Community College and hopes to eventually get a pharmacy doctorate degree. She says that running between school and home, transporting a family member to doctor appointments and carpooling her 5-year-old son, Kyle, and his friends to school, having dependable transportation will make life a lot easier.
State Farm donated the Malibu as a salvage vehicle. Toyota of Tampa Bay contributed repairs and refurbishing.
Little Kyle was not left out either, the employees of Toyota of Tampa Bay rolled out a new bicycle for the younger Stewart so he too has a new ride.
