Officer struck while working crash in Palm Harbor

Palm Harbor, Florida -- A law enforcement officer working a crash was injured in a second crash at the same location tonight on U.S. 19 near Curlew Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said. 

The name of the FHP Community Service Officer was not released immediately. He was taken to the hospital by ground ambulance. Two other persons were believed injured.

Details of both crashes are under investigation. The second crash occurred when a tow truck was in the process of removing one of the vehicles involved in the first accident.

It was raining at the time but it has not been established whether that contributed to either crash.
