Lake Wales, Florida -- Police have identified a truck driver who died Monday when his rig left State Road 60 East and struck a tree.
Dan T. Rutherford of Okeechobee was pronounced dead at Lake Wales Medical Center. The cause of his death is under investigation.
Investigators say he was driving a Peterbilt dump truck with a utility trailer when the rig left the roadway, crossed an embankment and struck a palm tree near the Pizza Hut parking lot.
