Lake Wales, Florida -- A pair of pastors say they're getting "a bit delirious" after living for more than half a week on top of 20 feet of scaffolding, raising money for charity.
At least one of the two will be atop the tower at all times -- 24 hours a day -- from this past Sunday night through midday this coming Saturday.
Pastors Walter Nelson and Shawn Rudy from the First Assembly of God Church in Lake Wales are calling on their neighbors to donate a total of $30,000 to a mix of children's charities.
During the day, the pastors sit under a canopy and chat with passersby or conduct services using a megaphone or pen and paper lowered down in a bucket on a rope.
At night, they can sleep in either a tent pitched at one end of their 8 ft.-by-25 ft. wooden platform or under the canopy, which can be closed off from the elements. They have a camping toilet in another, smaller tent.
The "Up in the Air for Kids" idea was borrowed from other churches that have taken similar steps to raise money for mission work and other causes.
